About Ruth Wudtke

My work aims to act as a visual storyteller, expressing my own history, feelings, and outlooks in a way that feels more universal, so anyone is able to feel a connection to my work regardless of the similarities in our stories. I believe jewelry, no matter how large, small, conceptual, non-conceptual, or where it's sold/displayed, has the ability to tell stories that connect with people’s emotions and outlooks. Jewelry is more than just a beautiful object, it is a communicator and connector.

Ruth Wudtke grew up in East Tennessee, surrounded by natural beauty and becoming fascinated with Appalachian oral storytelling and its ability to build connections and community. She uses these values and philosophy when creating jewelry, creating work that attempts to tell a story to the wearer and find connection with them.
